REGULATIONS – EMERGING CHOREOGRAPHERS

1. Discipline introduction
The Emerging Choreographers category is dedicated to enhancing the creative talent of teachers, dancers, or choreographers who wish to present their own original creation.
The goal is to reward not only execution but, above all, the ability to conceive, the stylistic research, the innovative use of stage space, and the artistic coherence.
It is a showcase to experiment, narrate, and convey emotions through dance, regardless of style.

2. Allowed categories
No divisions are foreseen by age or technical level.
📌 Participation is open to both dance schools and independent choreographers.

3. Technical requirements
✅ Allowed styles:

  • Any dance style or cross-over of styles.

  • Free use of theatrical techniques, narrative elements, and experimental work.

🔸 The use of scenic elements and props is allowed, provided they are functional to the choreography and handled safely.
🔸 Dangerous objects or items that may damage the stage are prohibited.
🔸 Stage lighting will be managed by the technical team to enhance the performance, not as a fixed general light.

4. Music and contents
Maximum duration: up to 5:00 minutes.

Contents:

  • Freedom of music choice, provided it is consistent with the choreographic project.

  • Possible use of soundtracks, original or published tracks, and sound effects.

  • Content must not be offensive or discriminatory.

📌 Music submission will open on October 1st, when the Secretariat will send all Registered Schools the link to the Choreography Form to be completed.

5. Costumes, scenic elements, and safety

  • Clothing must be consistent with the artistic concept.

  • Costumes must allow freedom of movement and ensure safety.

  • Props and scenic elements must be placed and removed quickly.

  • Items that may be dangerous to dancers, audience, or stage are prohibited.

6. Judging and evaluation criteria
Performances will be evaluated based on four criteria:

  • Creativity and originality – choreographic idea, innovation, stylistic research

  • Choreographic structure – coherence, dynamics, use of space

  • Stage presence – expressiveness, engagement, emotional impact

  • Overall image – costumes, props, lighting

📌 Scores will be expressed from 1 to 10, with the possibility of half points and a “+” sign.

7. Additional notes
Competitive units:

  • Solo

  • Duo

  • Group (3–5 participants)

  • Formation (6+ participants)

Disqualification causes:

  • Inappropriate behavior

  • Absence at the third call

  • Exceeding the maximum allowed duration
