
TAP DANCE – RULES
1. Introduction to the discipline
Tap Dance is a discipline characterized by producing rhythmic sounds through toe and heel strikes of the shoes, often enhanced by scenic and interpretative elements. The performance combines technique, musicality, and stage presence, requiring clean execution and stylistic coherence.
2. Allowed categories (average age of participants)

Mini: 5–8 years old

Youth: 8–12 years old

Junior: 13–18 years old

Senior: 18 years and above
3. Sections and performance duration

Solo: 2’00’’ – 2’30’’
-
Duo: 2’00’’ – 3’00’’
-
Small group: 2’30’’ – 3’30’’

Large group: 3’00’’ – 5’00’’
4. Evaluation criteria
Each performance will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

Energy, expression, and interpretation – score from 1 to 10

Clean execution of sounds – score from 1 to 10

Rhythmic precision and timing adherence – score from 1 to 10
Technical difficulty coefficient

+1 point: low difficulty
-
+2 points: medium difficulty
-
+3 points: complex composition
5. Costumes, make-up, and props

Costumes and make-up must be consistent with the style of the chosen piece.

Otherwise, penalty points may be applied.

The use of small and easily transportable props for scenic purposes is allowed.

If such props are integrated into the performance as percussive instruments, they will be considered in the evaluation of the technical difficulty coefficient.
6. Music and accompaniment

Performances can be accompanied by:

a musical backing track
-
a recorded rhythmic base (e.g., metronome in MP3 format)
-
live rhythmic or musical accompaniment using percussive instruments.

Starting from October 1st, the music track must be uploaded in the choreography submission form provided by the Secretariat.
